At Queensland Country Health Fund, we love seeing our teams take on challenges that bring fun, fitness, and a little friendly competition into the workplace! This Fit Feb, we're shining a light on one of our participating teams, 'Girls Just Want to Have Guns'—a group of four determined women taking on the challenge!
The Challenge
The team is tackling a workplace fitness challenge that encourages movement, whether it’s walking, running, weight training, or cardio. Every bit count, with extra points awarded for high-intensity workouts. Their goal? To log enough kilometres to match the entire Great Ocean Road journey—without leaving Queensland.
Meet the Team
Jodi: Walking her way to fitness
Jodi is starting strong with daily walks, gradually working her way up to higher-impact activities.
Having a supportive friend join her on early morning walks has been a game-changer for motivation. “Not only would I
be letting myself down if I didn’t do it, but I would also let her down,” she shares. Jodi is also embracing another challenge alongside Fit Feb—FebFast, giving up alcohol for the month.
Despite the rainy start to February, Jodi hasn’t let the weather hold her back. “I haven’t used it as an excuse to stay inside, so I’d say I’m doing pretty good so far!” Her long-term goal? To hit her milestone birthday next year feeling “Fit, Fab, and Fifty!”
Her advice for anyone looking to start their own fitness journey? “Let people know you’re doing it so you can get support and keep yourself accountable.”
Chelsea: Pushing limits with HIIT and running
Chelsea jumped into Fit Feb to boost her consistency at the gym. She’s focusing on high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and running, already seeing improvements in endurance—celebrating her first 1km run without stopping!
One of the biggest challenges she’s overcoming is staying active while working in an office. “Hitting 10,000 steps a day can be tough when you have a desk job, so this challenge is really holding me accountable!” she says.
For anyone thinking about starting their own fitness challenge, Chelsea’s advice is simple: “Just keep showing up. You’ll be surprised how quickly your fitness builds! Plus, the endorphins afterward are 10/10—ask the branch staff how chirpy I am in the mornings!”
The Journey So Far
Jodi and Chelsea are off to a strong start, staying committed and motivated as they work toward their team’s 100km-per-week goal. With two other team members joining their journey, it’s clear that 'Girls Just Want to Have Guns' is a team fuelled by determination, support, and a shared love for movement.
Stay tuned as we continue to follow their journey throughout Fit Feb—because every step, sprint, and squat counts!
