Queensland Country is encouraging the community to do what they can to help the thousands of people affected by the recent flooding across Northern Queensland.
After providing a $50,000 combined donation from the Credit Union and Health Fund, Queensland Country is now raising additional funds for Australian charity GIVIT, who guarantee that 100% of donations are used to purchase essential items for people in need.
Donations can be made at any branch of the Credit Union or online.
Queensland Country Credit Union CEO Aileen Cull said the donation and additional fundraising were supported by a Flood Assistance Package, which had been designed to provide relief for Members impacted by the significant weather events.
“We’re offering deferred home loan repayments for up to three months and will also work with Members having difficulty keeping up with their health insurance premiums during this difficult time,” Ms Cull said.
“The majority of our team live in North Queensland so we know firsthand just how devastating these floods have been,” she said.
“In addition to our corporate response to the floods, we have seen a number of staff roll up their sleeves and help our communities get back on their feet.
“Thanks to our community volunteer program, our people have been able to access up to two days of paid leave to help with the clean-up effort.”
Ms Cull said Queensland Country’s general insurance partner, CGU, had assessors on the ground as soon as possible after the flooding so that affected Members could quickly claim on their home, contents and vehicle insurance policies.
“It’s times like these that you find out how good your insurance policy is, and we are happy to be associated with CGU,” she said.
